Waste Valorisation Strategies

At ECOPSIS we support the preparation of business plans for sustainable liquid and solid waste management to support a circular economy and contribute to climate resilience. Our team conducts market and regulatory assessments for the introduction and upscaling of innovative technologies. We help our clients with waste valorisation across a range of materials, from organic to e-waste and plastic waste. We advise on the valorisation of waste products to optimise production processes and for efficiency gains, such as the reuse of agricultural waste for energy generation, while helping to identify green financing opportunities e.g. carbon credits. We work with both industries and service providers, and at the government level on policies and regulations.

Projects

Study for Scaling-up the Biodigester Market

Benin | GIZ & Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines

Conducted an in-depth analysis of the biodigester market, focusing on its current situation, potential and dynamics. ECOPSIS proposed business models for the development of a sustainable market for this technology, with private sector involvement, public funding support and regulatory improvements. We also trained public authority staff so they could independently update the study results.

Strategic Planning of the Management and Valorisation of the Municipal Solid Waste of the City of Bouaké

Ivory Coast | World Bank & PICUCAS

Carried out a strategic study that allowed the establishment of an integrated, efficient and sustainable management of municipal solid waste in the city of Bouaké. Utilised short, medium and long-term planning of the activities of the entire sector, from collection and waste separation to resource recovery and final disposal of all categories of municipal waste.

Waste Management Guideline for Industrial Parks

Ethiopia | GIZ & The Ministry of Industry

Evaluated options for the valorisation of waste from avocado oil industries. We assessed innovative products and the related treatment technologies from the generated waste streams. This was based on in-situ research tests, the local market for the identified products, available infrastructure and financial and economic analysis. The final recommendations (drying and use as animal feed) were accepted by the plant in preparation for future investments. We also designed national guidelines for the management of similar agro-industrial waste with a view to waste valorisation.
