Flood Risk Management

ECOPSIS advises on grey and green infrastructure to improve sustainable drainage and flood management systems. Our priority is to provide cost-effective and nature-based solutions that bring additional benefits for both rural and urban development. We prepare detailed feasibility studies, taking into account financial implications as well as socio-economic impacts. Throughout the feasibility study process, we engage with stakeholders to align with regulations, whilst building capacity to integrate innovative solutions.

Projects

Development of Sponge City Plans for Three Cities in The Mekong Delta

Viet Nam | GIZ

Collaborated with the Kien Giang and Ca Mau provinces to develop sponge city concepts. We undertook pre-feasibility studies and cost-benefit-analyses of sustainable urban stormwater management systems, showcasing nature-based solutions to foster onsite infiltration, mitigation of flooding and integration to urban development. We were responsible for the FASTInfra certification self-assessment of the interventions identified in the feasibility studies inline with 14 ESG criteria, with the aim to secure green finance.

Flood Risk Mitigation Works of the Rhodo Basin, Including Solid Waste Management

Haiti | World Bank

As part of the World Bank-funded project "Municipal Development and Urban Resilience Project", ECOPSIS developed a master plan for dredging and reinforcement works. We designed the sediment transfer and treatment platform and the contaminated sediment disposal site. The planned works aimed to mitigate the flood risk and related pollution risks of uncontrolled discharge of faecal sludge and solid waste with flood water.

Design of Baseline Survey on Flood Preparedness and Risk Perception

Ethiopia | World Bank

Designed a baseline survey that will be used to assess current levels of flood preparedness in selected high-risk communities in priority basins, under the World Bank-funded Ethiopia Flood Management Project. The results of the survey are intended to be used to monitor the indicators and targets related to community resilience of the project.
